Decide what you will actually send
The weird part of collecting emails is usually not the asking. It is the vague promise (“stay in the loop!”) followed by six months of silence and then a discount code nobody wanted.
Before the event, write down the first message a guest will get and roughly how often you will write after that. A link to their photos and an invite to the next event is a fine answer. “Our newsletter” is not, unless you can describe it in a sentence.
Once you know what you will send, the ask writes itself, and it sounds like an offer instead of a grab.
